I was doing an online search for Mick and was saddened to find that he passed away in 2022. Mick was my Squadron Commander on 2623 Sqn, R Aux AF Regiment at Honington. Apart from being my 'Boss' he was a very good friend and was extremely supportive of me when I was ill in 2003.

I thank you Mick for being the kind of man who gives you time. You took time to talk to me and show me that life would get easier. To calm down, to not be angry, but to hold my head high and keep pushing on. Bless you now rest in peace. Steve H

So shocked and desperately sad to hear of Mick’s passing. I worked with him during his last tour at Honington. I was blessed to have him as my Executive Office and he was a great support to me and so many others with whom he worked and looked out for. I was also the butt of his incessant and particular brand of humour, which ensured he kept everything we did in perspective and never took anything too seriously, though I never thought I was that small before I worked with him. He was so devoted to Trish and the girls, my thoughts are with them at this sad, sad time. A wonderful, kind man who will be missed by so many. Rest easy Mick.

During my first tour we ran 70 miles for charity and his fitness was only exceeded by his strength of mind. A great man who taught me a great deal. He’ll be missed.

I never worked with Mick but spoke to him a number of times when I was based at RAF Catterick, I always found him to be an inspirational and charming man who had time for everybody. May he RIP and deepest condolences to the his family and friends.

So sad to hear of Mick’s death. First met Mick in N. Ireland where he was my Flt Cdr on 3 Sqn RAF Regt. A larger than life character that made a great impact on me as a JNCO. Encouraged and advised me when I took part in the Cambrian patrol for the first time. Kind and supportive over the loss of my daughter shortly after she was born. As the military saying goes – he could do Welfare as well as Warfare. Our paths crossed several times over the years since the early nineties and he would always find time to stop and have a chat – even if it was to dish out some banter. Mick was my first Sergeant on 51 Sqn in 1987, as an LAC he was an inspiration and definitely set the standards I wanted to achieve. He inspired me to do the arduous Cambrian Patrol competition, and gave me the confidence to complete Pre-Para. Our paths crossed once more when he had commissioned he was my Flight Commander in Northern Ireland on 3 Sqn, and when I later became an NCO we served on recruit training at Halton. Highly competent and respected He was still setting himself challenges when I last engaged with him in regular lunchtime banter in the Honington gym, receiving the brunt of the infamous Donoghue sarcastic humour!!.
